Abstract: This research investigates the impact of adult education on societal transformation, focusing on its role in promoting socio-economic and cultural development. The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of adult education in fostering societal change, to identify the specific aspects of adult education that contribute to transformation, and to evaluate the challenges faced by adult learners in this context. A survey research design was employed to gather data from participants in various adult education programs, as this method allows for broad and detailed data collection. A sample size of 400 adult learners was selected to ensure a comprehensive analysis. The purposive sampling technique was used to target individuals who have undergone adult education programs. The case study was conducted in Lagos, Nigeria, where diverse adult education initiatives are implemented. Findings indicated that adult education significantly contributed to societal transformation by enhancing literacy, promoting gender equality, and fostering economic independence. However, challenges such as inadequate funding and limited access to resources were also identified. The study recommended increasing investment in adult education and improving infrastructure to support adult learning initiatives.
